| Aqueducts were dug beneath the sand to transport water from the mountains. Every few hundred feet a deep hole was dug down to the aqueduct to provide access for repairs, and to leave access for drawing water. In the midst of the area, an enterprising Bedouin has set up this tent, complete with plastic chairs to provide a respite for tourists.
| The oasis of Tinerhir is a beautiful sight, with beautiful trees and a village on the hillside.

| | We drove up the amazing Todra Gorge to our lunch stop. This gorge is 35 feet wide at its narrowest spot, and 950 feet deep.
| We then entered the lush Dades Valley, with date palms along the way.

| | In the oasis of Ouarzazate, the governors of the Glaoui family built the Taourirt Kasbah. This stronghold was well designed for comfortable living and entertaining.
| There are four separate sets of living quarters for the four wives of the governor. The one facing Mecca was reserved for the favorite!

| | We then proceeded to the beautiful Berbere Palace Hotel.
| This area is a major film production area. The hotel features sets from many of the movies that have been filmed here. This is the throne of Rameses II from the new remake of "The Ten Commandments."
